Turn off the images in your browser
In the Internet Explorer menu bar, choose Tools - Internet Options. Click on the "Advanced" tab. Under the "Multimedia" section, unclick "Show Pictures"
Tab through your website
Place your mouse on top of your monitor, or turn it upside down. Tab through your web page and try to navigate through the site without using your mouse. After you go to your url and hit tab, your browser will navigate from the address bar to the first hyperlink or form field on the page. Look for outlines around an image or hyperlink to see the cursor move. A flashing cursor will appear in the form fields. Continue pressing the tab key and navigate to other pages by pressing the "enter" key when a link is
selected.
Try to increase the font size
In Internet Explorer, choose View - Text Size - Largest
Print your page in b/w only
Print your page in black and white to check for efficient contrast between text and background. Look for other text problems. Is text on a background with sufficient contrast? Is text on a plain background that makes it easy to read? Reconsider text placed on photos or patterns.
Understandable headings, links, and content
Are blocks of text and sentences short and easy to read? Are headings used appropriately and are coded in h tags? Are links descriptive? (no ‘click here')
