PowerPoint Add-Ins
Another option is to install the Illinois Accessible Web Publishing Wizard.
- Before installing the Wizard, make sure you have already installed Microsoft Office Suite.
- Purchase the Illinois Accessible Web Publishing Wizard for Microsoft® Office from
http://www.accessiblewizards.uiuc.edu/. It runs around $40. - Install the Illinois Accessible Web Publishing Wizard along with .Net Framework 2.0.
Save your PowerPoint as a Zip File
- Open your PowerPoint presentation.
- Select File—Save As Accessible Web Page from the menu bar.
- The Wizard opens, click next.
- Fill out the title and author, click next.
- Choose a background color. If your text is white, choose a dark background. If your text is black (or a color), leave the background white. Click next.
- The Pick Output Options control opens. Leave all the default settings. Click the box for “Include speaker's notes” if you want to include them in your presentation. Click next.
- Select the “zip file” choice by clicking on the radio button. Browse to a location on your local hard drive. Click Next, then Finish. You can close PowerPoint. We have our output file and no longer need the application open.
Bring the PowerPoint into Blackboard
- Open your classroom by going to http://learn.eku.edu in a browser, log in as an instructor, and click on the correct Blackboard class.
- Find an appropriate location for your presentation, for instance, assignments, articles, presentations, study materials, etc.
- Click on “Edit View” in the upper right corner of the main window. You can also edit by entering through Control panel—Content link.
- Add your content by clicking the item button at the top of the main window.
- Go ahead and give the presentation a name and description. Under Content, attach the .zip file, and choose “Unpackage this file” in the dropdown labeled “Special Action.” Leave the “Name of Link to File” box blank. Make other settings as desired and click Submit.
- Attach the actual PowerPoint document to your classroom and provide a link to the MS PowerPoint viewer for those without PowerPoint on their local machine.
