to the Technology Studio in Case Annex 256 for help making your website accessible. Bring your laptop or access to your files. No registration needed, drop in anytime.
Web Accessibility Awareness
September 4, October 10 & 25, February 5, March 5, 10-11 a.m.
In this class we review the laws and EKU policies regarding web accessibility. We explain how to take simple steps towards accessibility using multiple content formats and universal design. Awareness issues are covered by viewing a short video of students using assistive technologies, and playing with disability simulators. Includes discussion of other user limitations, for instance lack of sound cards, slow modems, phone browsing, and more.

Creating Accessible Blackboard Courses

Discussion of course organization, methods to create alternative course content, and usability considerations. Focus is on techniques for accommodating students with disabilities.
Dreamweaver Accessibility Tools
September 25, February 26, 10-11:30 a.m.
Technical overview of typical web accessibility problems and how to fix them in Dreamweaver. Forms, tables, alt-tags, etc.
Web Accessibility Enhancements Using CSS
November 15, March 26, 10-11:30 a.m.
Typical web accessibility problems and how to fix them using CSS. This is an advanced class for web developers. A quick overview of CSS will be given at the start of the class. All class code available as a download.
Making Your First Podcast
August 2, April 8, 9:30 a.m.-noon, follow-up part 2, August 9, April 15, 10-11:30 a.m.
This is a beginners' hands-on class exploring the tools and skills needed to create an accessible podcast. We will explore Audacity (a sound editor), set up voice recognition, and look at podcast directories, aggregators, and players. Class will also include a checklist with all the necessary steps for creating a podcast. Please bring a
laptop, and a headset with a microphone. The first half hour of class is reserved for software installation. You must
register to take this class. The follow up session of this class is for troubleshooting, and marketing podcasts through directories, subscriptions, website archives, and blogs.
EKU has an account with Royalty Free Music for provision of music for podcasts. Please contact Parker Owens at 622-2743 or parker.owens@eku.edu for the username and password.
